INTRODUCTION
Bill of quantities may be defined as the document that is prepared in the construction industry with the purpose of specifying the various materials, labors, and resources along with their costs. It is a means of a communication tool between three main parties of any construction project i.e. the Client, the Consultant, and the Contractor. The standard system has been used drawn to provide a firm basis for measuring building work. It should be emphasized that Bills of Quantities set out to work to be done on the drawings for contained in the, in accordance with the agreed rules laid down in the standard system.
This training course will cover topics such as descriptions of Bills of Quantities, purpose of Bills of Quantities and their composition, their preparation, measuring of builders work, standard method of measuring building work, Marking up and billing.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course, you‘ll be able to:
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of the purpose of bills of quantities and their composition
- Effectively prepare bills of quantities, including the measuring of builders’ work, marking up, and billing
- Understand the relationship between the application of mensuration formulae and the units of measurement prescribed by the Standard System of Measuring Builders’ Work, and to be able to use the formula.
- Know the composition of Bills of Quantities.
- Recognize the relationship between the application of the measurement formulae and the Units of measurement prescribed by the standard system of measuring builders’ work.
